Sylvie's Happy VIE

After studying in a Parisian art school (ESAM) and a few years as a graphic designer in studios and com agencies, I started as a freelance illustrator. I appreciate above all the freedom that freelance status gives me and I love exploring very different universes by working for publishing, press or communication …

I think Confucius was thinking of me when he said, “Choose a job you love and you won’t have to work a day in your life.”

Sylvie's Happy STYLE

Visual artist, author, illustrator and graphic designer, Sylvie loves above all to play with images and words, shapes and colours. Whether through the many children’s books she has illustrated or the field of events, for which she loves to create greeting cards, invitation cards, press kits… preferably with sophisticated and original design. She always tries to tell a unique and tailor-made story, with a touch of humour and fantasy. She works mainly with Adobe software on a graphic tablet. For some time now, she has taken up her brushes again for personal works on canvas and is always looking for new forms of expression.

Why we LOVE Sylvie

Sylvie is a Happy Funky artist by definition. Her colors are vibrant and her line is humorous and tender at the same time.

His digital works are inspired by the world of comics and are not lacking in fantasy or poetry.

We like his frankness and his assumed frankness with an aesthetic that sometimes borders on caricature!

Picasso. I would ask him what he thinks of the phrase “you have to distinguish the man from his work”.

Red. Blue and red: Cold and hot, water and fire, sad and happy, soft and strong… The contrast that speaks to me.

ā™„ Which museum gives you the greatest emotion? Why?
The Peggy Guggenheim Foundation in Venice for its magnificent collections, for the marvellous pallazo that houses them and for the incredible personality of this atypical collector and patron who still hovers in this place.

ā™„ Which piece of art would you buy without hesitation if you had an unlimited budget?
When I can afford it, I like to buy works by artist friends…But, if unlimited budget, I would buy Niki de Saint-Phalle’s Tarot Garden.

ā™„ In which city do you feel happiest? Why do you think so? Share your 3 favourite addresses.
Paris, to recharge your batteries: the Place Furstenberg, the Square des Batignolles, the stairs of Montmartre…But the city that really makes me happy is the one where I currently live : La Frette-sur-Seine: The Seine and its daily changing skies seen from my terrace, all the little paths and stairs that lead to the Seine and, the unavoidable place to be, the Super U

ā™„ What book keeps you up all night?
For a sleepless night of angst and laughter, any Patricia Highsmith or P.J. Woodehouse…

ā™„ What are your biggest sources of inspiration?
Curiosity in all directions: theatre, cinema, exhibitions, music, walks, travel, meetings, reading, social networks, nature, people…

ā™„ What’s the funkiest thing you’ve done in your life?
The Camino de Santiago and a few other unmentionable things…

ā™„ What is your definition of happiness?
Little moments of happiness: in the morning, opening the door of my studio, a weekend of archery in Kent, a good book, my lover’s tarama, Dinners with friends, making up stories, breakfast in a Parisian cafĆ©, a glass of champagne, laughing, strolling, dancing, an evening at the theatre, imagining my next creations…
