Self-taught, Caroline has been drawing since her early years. At the age of four, she began to translate scenes into drawings. The observation of expressions during her travels, and particularly of looks, has been a formative element in her practice. After teaching communication and anthropology and following a stay in California in 2015, she decided to devote herself to her passion, drawing. Since then, each destination or beautiful encounter is a pretext to transcribe emotions on paper. As an animal lover, she is particularly fond of animal portraits.

Caroline's Happy STYLE
Her portraits emphasize expressions and attitudes. She seeks to transpose emotions into her drawings, down to the smallest details. She works for a long time in her studio in order to bring out the thickness and depth of the motif. Each detail is meticulously shaped with Indian ink. The colored inks come then brought the touch of light. His objective: to sublimate the expressions and make the drawing alive.
Why we LOVE Caroline
We love them, we cherish them, they are part of our family, you guessed it, they are our faithful companions, our pets! Caroline creates portraits of cats, dogs, horses, cows, fish… of all our animal friends more real than life.
These works are so detailed that it’s almost impossible to tell they are done in India ink. It’s crazy. The hairs are shiny, the colors and reflections mimic nature beautifully.
We are bluffed and under the spell.

♥ Do you remember your first aesthetic shock?
Caravaggio’s chiaroscuro paintings at an exhibition at the National Gallery in London.
♥ The artist you would like to meet? What would you say to her?
Laurie Lipton who draws large, hyper-realistic pencil drawings and I would love to be a little mouse to watch her work.
♥ What is your favorite color? what does it inspire you?
Blue, which evokes me the appeasement and for all the possible gradations between a seascape and the sky.
♥ Which museum gives you the greatest emotion? Why?
The Tate Modern, because I love places that have had a first life and have been rehabilitated to bring art to life. And then because I worked there for a few months when I was a student.
♥ What piece of art would you buy without hesitation if you had an unlimited budget?
A painting by Leonardo da Vinci, like the one of La Scapigliata.
♥ In which city do you feel happiest? Why or why not? Share your 3 favorite addresses.
San Francisco for the California sunshine and the feeling of just having to put your bags down. I like to go to Dandelion to stock up on chocolate and go to the Mission District to admire its murals. And of course I like to visit the San Francisco De Young Museum because drawing is a big part of it.
♥ What book keeps you up all night?
Junichirô Tanizaki’s In Praise of the Shadow, which is a concentration of Japanese aesthetics and describes working with light so well.
♥ What are your biggest sources of inspiration?
Nature and animals.
♥ What’s the funkiest thing you’ve done in your life?
Going to India by myself with my backpack and going to the sources of the Ganges at 3415 meters.
♥ What is your definition of happiness?
Drawing and being able to share it.
